Nominated for the 2026 Prix Galien USA “Best Startup” Award, and shortlisted with partner CSL for “Deal of the Year” at the 2026 European Lifestars Awards

Leiden, The Netherlands, 15 September 2026 — VarmX, a biotech company developing innovative approaches to bypass direct oral anticoagulants targeting activated factor Xa (FXa inhibitors), today announced that it has received two industry award nominations recognising both its scientific innovation and its strategic partnership with CSL.

VarmX was shortlisted in the Prix Galien USA Best Startup category, reflecting its highly innovative approach to restore normal blood coagulation in patients taking oral Factor Xa. Its lead compound, VMX-C001, has received Fast Track designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. In August 2026, VarmX enrolled the first participant in its global Phase 3 EquilibriX-S trial, a randomised, controlled study evaluating whether a single intravenous dose of VMX-C001 can reliably and rapidly restore haemostasis during urgent surgical procedures in patients receiving FXa inhibitors.

The Prix Galien, established in France in 1970 and introduced in the United States in 2007, is widely regarded as the equivalent of the “Nobel Prize of the biopharmaceutical industry”. Winners are selected by committees of leading biomedical scientists, industry executives, and Nobel Laureates from around the world. The “Best Startup” category honours early-stage companies advancing novel therapeutic approaches. Winners will be announced at the Prix Galien USA Awards Ceremony on 29 October 2026 at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

Separately, the VarmX–CSL partnership has been shortlisted for the “Deal of the Year (< EUR 500M)” category at the 2026 European Lifestars Awards, which celebrate the individuals, teams and organisations that have shaped the European life sciences industry over the past 12 months. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Monday 16 November 2026 in London. The nomination recognises the strategic collaboration and option agreement signed with CSL in September 2025 to fund the late-stage development, manufacturing and potential commercialisation of VMX-C001.
